SSL certificate check
Enter a domain and we’ll show whether it has a certificate, how much longer it’s valid, and who issued it.
Four states
- HTTPS isn’t working
- The site answers over http (port 80), but not over https.
- Our free certificate, active
- Renews itself. Nothing to do.
- Certificate from another provider
- The certificate works. We can watch its expiry for free.
- Certificate problem
- There’s a certificate, but something’s off: it’s expiring, the name doesn’t match, or it didn’t renew in time.
We show the expiry date and issuer for every state except “HTTPS isn’t working”.
Frequently asked
Does a paid certificate encrypt “better”?
No. Encryption on a DV certificate — free or paid — is identical. The real differences are elsewhere: vendor warranty, compatibility with old clients, and issuance where ACME isn’t available.
Why check ports 465, 587, 993?
Everyone remembers the site’s certificate (443); mail (465, 587, 993) and panels on non-standard ports get forgotten. The certificate expires there too.
What does “Install automatically” do?
It adds a technical record to your DNS, and your server (certbot, Caddy, Traefik) issues and keeps reissuing the certificate itself, with no action from you.
